Tara and Willow's relationship is blossoming nicely - until Oz shows
up out of the blue, that is. Even more shocking than his sudden return is the
fact that he can now control his inner wolf.
He
demonstrates this by taking Willow on a moonlit walk without ripping her head
off. Willow has a lot of soul searching to do, but things get even more
complicated when Oz meets Tara and notices that Willow's scent is all over her.
In his typically perceptive manner he realises the girls are in love and the
stress makes him 'change'. His rampage is cut short by the Initiative lads who
capture him. To Riley's discomfort the Inititative scientists perfrom various
tests on poor Oz, while the Slayerettes form a rescue plan with the help of
Spike (who is in fact in bed with Adam - metaphorically speaking). Riley gets
locked up for trying to release Oz, but Buffy and co manage to hold Colonel
McNamara hostage, demanding that Oz and Riley are freed. They all escape, but
Riley is now a traitor. Oz decides he needs to leave again - it's for the best.
Tara tells Willow she should be with the one she loves. "I am." she
replies.
Review:
Well, it's all out in the open now. As Joss promised, the relationship between
Tara and Willow is handled with sensitivity and care, avoiding what could have
been a cheap tool for titillation. Oz is always great to watch, but Adam is
just tiresome. Still, a momentous episode with some fantastic moments of both
comedy and drama.
Best line:
Willow: "W-when did you get back?"
Oz: "Pretty much now."
Anya, demanding a high five from Giles: "Slap my hand now!"

Trivia:
Robert Patrick Benedict, who played Adam's Lackey in "Superstar", was
in a couple of scenes in this episode as "Jape, Adam's Lackey", but
got cut out.
