Buffy and Faith are starting to gel as a team, despite their differences, then Faith’s new Watcher Gwendoline Post arrives. Xander and Willow are still hyper-jumpy around each other, and even kiss again.

A demon called Lagos is coming, says Post. He’s after the glove of Mhyneghon, a powerful artefact, which Xander sees Angel take from a crypt, and give to Buffy, who he also kisses. Buffy tells the gang he’s all-better now, but they feel betrayed. “You have no respect for me, or the job I perform.” says Giles. Post learns from Giles that living flame can destroy the glove - then knocks him out. Buffy beheads Lagos with his own axe, while Post finds Angel about to destroy the glove. She attacks him, they fight, and Faith arrives and jumps to the wrong conclusion, nearly staking him. Buffy stops her, and they fight, while Post grabs the glove and starts blasting lightning bolts about. Angel saves Willow’s life, Faith draws her fire then Buffy slices the gloved arm off with some broken glass. Post was, in fact, a disgraced Watcher. Faith slips even further into a state of cynical distrust.

Review:
An uneven episode that, nevertheless, has more ‘ups’ than ‘downs’. The demon Lagos serves very little purpose, to be honest, but Giles’ cold speech to Buffy is brilliant, and Mrs Post is a nice warm-up for stuffed-shirt Wesley. She is certainly one of the biggest reasons Faith loses a stable sense of morality.

Best line: (Faith) “I’ve had my fair share of losers, but you boinked the undead!”
