Buffy and Riley move their budding relationship on a step, while Spike
is still held captive at Giles', a situation that neither man particularly
enjoys. Willow tries to deal with Oz's departure, with difficulty.
She
won't accept that only time will heal her broken heart, and casts a spell to
help. It is an apparent failure, but actually makes her will be done.
Unknowingly, she causes Buffy and Spike to fall in love and plan their
marriage, turns Amy back into a human for nearly a second, makes Xander a
'demon magnet', and causes Giles to slowly lose all sight. As matters
predictably go a bit pear-shaped, Willow finds herself magically transported to
D'Hoffyn (Anya's ex-boss)'s realm. He congratulates her on the chaos she's
caused, and offers her Anya's old job, which she refuses (naturally). She casts
another spell to return normality, but is facing some serious grovelling to
earn forgiveness from the Slayerettes...
Review:
OK, so the show is anti-alcohol, fair enough. But having the Slayerettes freak
out when Willow has a lite beer is a tad ridiculous. It's like smoking - the
only people who smoke in Buffy are evil, or die, or get severely beaten up, or
all three. This notwithstanding, "Something Blue" is a terrific
episode - frivolous, creative and funny.
Nice to see Amy, too, albeit briefly.
Best line:
Willow: "Eat a cookie, ease my pain?"
Bloopers:
Vampires aren't supposed to eat, yet Spike has a cookie.
Trivia: This is the second time Giles has lost his sight (full or
partially) through magical causes - the first was in "Nightmares".
Secretly, Buffy loves the song Wind Beneath My Wings. It was to be
played for the first dance at her and Spike's wedding.
Anya was made a demon by D'Hoffyn 1,120 years ago. She's nearly eight times
older than Spike.
